I think the last time I enjoyed painting my nails was in the fifth grade, and the last time I enjoyed painting nails period was when I gave my mother a spa treatment in middle school. That being said, I am long over due to give my best client a pedicure! Anyway, I continued to do my nails for special occasions, like Howl-O-Scream at Busch Gardens, but other than that, I kinda stopped painting my nails after age 11. It takes me over 2 hours to get all my nails covered smoothly and all the extra paint on my fingers removed (I know this because when a movie goes off, I’m still working on them). I just don’t enjoy the experience at all, but the issue is that I do enjoy the final look. So, how do I try to keep my hands “in shape” without all the extra work?

My Go-To: Fun, Translucent Polish!
I’m talking about the polish that’s clear or light-colored with sparkles or shimmer! It dries in less than half the time, but can still make nails look close to perfect. Plus, if you get the polish on your fingers, no one will know! No, it’s not as nice as a stunning red, or a daring metallic gold, but I’ve found it to be a good compromise. Typically, I finish in less than five minutes, so that’s over 1 hour and 55 minutes I can dedicate to something more important, like the statistics homework I still need to finish. Now, you probably don’t take as long as me to paint your nails the regular way, but 5 minutes (including dry time!) is super convenient.

My Favorite (And Very Affordable) Polishes To Use

- Wet n Wild Megalast (Sparkle/Glitter): Do they last a mega-long time? Ehh… not really, but I got this pack of 2 from the Dollar Tree, so I don’t mind reapplying every few days for 50 cents per bottle (I got these pre-$1.25 times). This Sally Hansen polish looks pretty similar!

- L.A. Colors Color Craze Pearl Finish: Yup, another Dollar Tree find! Normally, I’m just so-so with L.A. Colors, but this ended up being a trusty bottle. It’s simple, it’s unique, it’s classy, and it goes with everything… I highly recommend keeping a pearl-effect nail polish handy! This Pop-arazzi polish looks similar, but I can’t say if it’s just as easy and fast to apply.

- Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Extreme Wear (Sparkle/Glitter): This one’s not from the Dollar Tree because it was a gift from a friend! The glitter is definitely more noticeable in this one compared to the Wet n Wild, so when I run out of both, I’ll definitely be looking for this one instead. You can find it on Amazon here.

On My Outfit…
By the way, my dress is from SHEIN, and it’s currently on sale! With SHEIN you always have to be wary of quality, but this one came out almost perfect. The material was comfortable, the fabric wasn’t see-through, but the elastic in the sleeves was tight. My mom loosened it up and that did the trick! Isn’t the tropical print cute?
